nothing to see here...

Today as I was walking through a parking lot, I (along with a few other people) was nearly wiped out by a girl speeding through the lot text messaging on her cell phone. She didn't even look up! I read that vehicular accidents have steadily gone up since 1980, and paticularly have gone up an enormous amount in the last 10 years (evidently in the '80s is when people began to really start rushing around, focusing on careers and 'making it big', etc., therefore driving faster and doing things like eating when they're driving. Now in the past 10 years is when cell phones have become extremely prevelant, which explains some of the recent high level of accidents). I still don't have a cell phone, but I suspect that soon one of those over zealous cell phone jockeys at the booths in the mall will leap out and glue one to my hand, setting me up with a payment plan and free weekend minutes and I can become one of the herd of zombified cancer-headed people shuffling along with a blank stare talking loudly into a cell phone about their goiter for everyone else in the resteraunt to hear. I can't wait.
So, it appears that along with being the only one without a cell phone, I'm also the only one who is not completely blown away by Heath Ledger's scenes as the Joker (that I've seen so far, anyway). Now, mind you that once I see him in the context of the movie, I might love it to death; but as it stands now, I'm not convinced. He looks really cute in the make-up, like a colorful, more cutesy version of The Crow- very far from terrifying. And that fake Christian Slater-esque nerd voice he's using- it's not working for me. I've seen so many people (mostly critics and entertainment personalities) talk about how chilling his performance is, and how creepy and scary. Now I've been hearing regular people- people I know and work with, saying the same thing. But I just don't see it- are they just buying into the hype (which people are wont to do), or have I just been so desensitized to horror and creepiness that it doesn't effect me anymore? Maybe I'm the crazy one. I don't know. But I'm still looking forward to the movie. I didn't like the look of the lion from the first Chronicles of Narnia movie, or The Hulk from The Incredible Hulk on the commercials, but they didn't bother me at all in the movies, so maybe this'll be the same way.
Hellboy II: The Golden Army was pretty good. I was a little underwhelmed by Hellboy, but I really liked some of the characters. In this one, I liked the story and the characters (tho it still wasn't phenominal).
I'm making a change at my job- after working so long in the receiving/ inventory department, I've decided that I want to do something else. So I'm going to try being a front end manager for awhile. It might drive me insane, but I might like it. You never know. I guess I'll find out- I should start doing it next week or so.
I had to take my cat Chim (the one in nin picture) to the vet to get his annual allergy shot. He seems a lot happier. The other cats are doing well. Charlie has gained so much weight, we had to put him on a diet, which is hard to do with 4 cats.
I haven't been to any shows in awhile- I really wanted to go to the No Talk/ Sex Vid show last Wednesday, or the Deceased/ Hypo Christians show last Friday, but didn't make it to either. I don't find shows as fun as I used to. I'm definitely planning to go to Danzig in October, tho. I missed him last time around, and I'm not going to miss this one. I might go to Creature Feature, too.
Not too much else going on. I'm going to a big horror festival in Dallas in October- looking forward to that. Favorite time of the year coming up! That's all...
