I wonder how many couples break up on Valentine's Day. I bet there's a lot. All those expectations and stuff. I've heard that the holiday was actually created by candy companys back in the early 1900s, but it might be an urban legend. Sounds right, tho. When you're in a long distance relationship, it's different. I sent Krystal's presents off awhile back, but I knew I was late with them. She'll get them sometime. And someday we'll be together on Valentine's Day. This year I think I'm going up there for her birthday in April. I haven't been up there since July ov last year- she came down here 2 times in a row, so now it's my turn. Should be fun!
I spent most ov the day today transferring vinyl to cd. I do it every once in awhile, and it's a pain in the ass. Been working on this thrash/ speed metal compilation- just old school stuff. Destruction, Savage Grace, Cathedral, Blood Feast, Atrophy, Mercyful Fate, Vio-Lence, Hallows Eve, Satan, Holy Terror, Dark Angel, Hellwitch, Sacrilege, Whiplash, D.B.C., Cirith Ungol (I always loved Cirith Ungol, but I got a surprise this year when I went and saw 'The Lord of the Rings- Return of the King'. Gandalf pronounced it 'Kir-ith Ungol'. I've been pronouncing it 'Sir-ith Ungol' for over 15 freaking years now. That's annoying. The same thing happened with Celtic Frost, but at least I found that out a long time ago), Coven, Solitude Aeternus, Nasty Savage, Nuclear Assault, Testament, Sacrifice, Helloween, Metal Onslaught, Iced Earth, Attacker, Annihilator, Razor, Wehrmacht, Aggression, Num Skull, Infernal Majesty, Exodus, Possessed, Sadus, Sacred Reich, Voivod, Kreator, Blind Guardian, Fates Warning, Artillery, Athiest, Candlemass, Coroner, Confessor, Devestation, Exhorder, Evergrey, Forbidden, Hirax, Omen, Trouble, Sabbat, and Pestilence (maybe more if I can think ov/ fit any more). I got finished with part 1 today. I think it'll be 4 discs before I'm through. I love making cds (tho more ov these bands need to be released on cd, so I don't have to go to all the trouble ov transferring them from vinyl). Speaking ov, the new Probot cd came out this week. It's Dave Grohl (from Scream/ Nirvana/ Foo Fighters) writing most ov the music, then he got a bunch ov different old school singers to sing on 1 track each. It's Cronos (Venom), Max (Sepultura/ Soulfly), Lemmy (Motorhead), Mike Dean (Corrosion OF Conformity- supposidly their 'classic' singer, but I always liked the guy on their first album "Eye For An Eye" a lot better- that album rules!), Kurt (D.R.I.), Lee (Napalm Death/ Cathedral), Wino (Saint Vitus/ tons more), Tom Warrior (Celtic Frost), Snake (Voivod), Eric Wagner (Trouble), and King Diamond. Kim from Soundgarden plays on a couple ov tracks too. It's pretty good overall. More than that it's just a cool nod to the old school- a lot ov these people who've been forgotten being brought together in a project ov love from someone who managed to get popular. Gotta love it!
O.k., ain't got much else to say, and I'm hungry, so I think I'm off to Bennigan's (I love that place- they stay open late. I go there around 11 to 11:30 PM once a weekend almost every week). Happy V.D. (heh heh) to all- I love you Krystal. Be good...
